If you are interested in heritage and culture which takes you to Churches and Cathedrals then you will want to take a short walk from the cab stand in town to the oldest Synagogue in the New World. Great place to visit, structure well kept. I believe it is one of the oldest synagogues in the Western Hemisphere if not the oldest. Enchanting...they do not have hardwood floors, but rather people pray on sand. Historical information about Judiasm in St. Thomas contained in the rear of the synagogue. more

In general, Barbadians are ambivalent about historic structures, and those that are open to the public are simply used to lure tourist dollars.This simple structure and cemetery are beautiful and compelling, even though services only occur for three months out of the year.
