Our second day in Barbados, the clouds rolled in with heavy rain. We called Mount Gay & reserved 2 spots for the "cocktail tour." Be sure you sign up for this tour, and not just a regular tour. DH and I did this tour and had a great time! We did the Cocktail Tour where we got to make drinks for the rest of the people at the end of our tour. The bartenders were great! I think we both would have preferred to learn more but I think if they changed anything it would bore most tourists... more

The Mount Gay Rum tour was more informative of the 2 main rums in Barbados with other being Malibu. Also, my wife and I really enjoyed the Pnche Kuba drink and Mt. Gay Extra Old. We also did a another Mt Gay private tour of the factory in St. Lucy - not worth it in my opinion. PROS: Great gift... more

i have been to almost all of the rum factories in the Caribbean, and unlike the views of an earlier reviewer did not rate St. Lucia better, yes you do get to tour the factory there as well as sample plenty of rums but not as good a quality as you would find here. at Mount Gay factory i was... more

Enjoyed the Mount Gay tour. The history was excellent and the tour was never dull. Beware of the tasting at the end as you are provided straight rum to drink and some sting your throat. The shop was worth the experience as well! Don't miss this. more

On arrival you are presented with a rum punch, then ushered into a large room with glass cabinets and the walls adorned with old posters, information and the history of this rum to look at. Then you are taken upstairs to watch a video about 12 minutes in duration which depicts all aspects of the Mount Gay Rum making process.... more

Just like the last reviewer, I was hoping to learn about making rum. What I got was 3 tourist designed rooms we got to visit and watch a video. You don't go into the factory and they actually do most of the work outside of Bridgetown - in the countryside. The "tasting" was two SMALL shots of their rum. Then... more

After visiting the rum distillery in St Lucia last year, I was looking forward to visiting the Mount Gay distillery.
