We just came from a 5 night stay at Hostel Briketteand I completely agree with previous reviews regarding staff and smells. On arrival we were actually really pleased with how close it was to the bus stop HOWEVER when we got there we finally found our own way in and checked in with the receptionist (Nicola). We paid cash in... more

Neutral to negative review::: Didnt feel that welcome as we arrived late and were immediately snarled at for not phoning. The next day i phoned (as we were away) in to complain about one or two things, one of which that there was no toilet seat on the toilet. Was told that this is 'the style' that the bathroom was... more

I have just returned from a week on the Amalfi Coast with 4 nights in Sorrento and 3 nights in Positano. Upon arriving at this hostel you think it is wonderful - amazing views and a beautiful big terrace... that is until you meet the staff. Two women recently took over the management of this hostel in March and if... more

I'm suprised to see several negative comments about this hostel. I went to Positano for my oldest son's wedding last April and I stayed at this hostel. It was the highlight of my entire adventure in Italy. Although I originally booked a womens Dorm room, I "upgraded" to a private bedroom and bathroom for about $20.00 extra/night and it was... more

My family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children went on our trip of a lifetime. We got to Positano to check in to the private Apartment with a room across. The hotel had our reservation wrong. But gave us 2 sea terrace rooms. Immed. we noticed a strong sulfur smell from the bathroom coming from the toilet and shower.... more

Yes, it's a cheaper option in a notoriously expensive area of the world, but does that really need to come at the expense of hygiene and security? This hostel has no locks on the dorm doors and no lockers to put your possessions in. A key card system or a simple lock with a key would have stopped the drunk... more

For our stay in Positano in June 2007, I wanted budget accomodation, but didn't want to stay in a dorm room. I booked the Ostello Brikette on the recommendation of a friend who said to make sure we stay in the room with a private bathroom and terrace. That particular room wasn't available, however the room next to it was,... more

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hostel during May 2007. We booked, over the internet, a private room, thinking we were getting a great deal for such an expensive destination. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Christina (the owner) and the filth of reception. After confirming we were staying for 3 nights, she asked us to follow her to... more

Brikette is a wonderful place to stay. This was the 2nd time we've stayed here and we bought our parents who also absolutely adored it. Cristiana is hilarious and we loved her, her dog is beautiful and the other staff were very sweet. The drinks are cheap and it's wonderful to get delicious coffee and a croissant in the morning.... more
