Yes it's a bit tired, yes the rooms are a bit small. But the Marie Luisa more than makes up for it with those amazing views and friendly owner, Carlo. Try to get a room with a balcony. Views like that for 80 Euros a night. Unbelievable! more

Stunning views and a great verandah to sit in with some food and wie! Yes the bathroom does smell but its just because of the old pipes and for 65 euros no one should complain! Its close to the cute Fornillo Beach which is just a walk down the stairs. When you arrive by bus and take the private internal... more
Great view, great service, cute cats, nice rooms, good location. I found this hotel through reviews here on tripadvisor. It is in the lowest price bracket in Positano, but it had better reviews than the others. If I had paid 150euros for so for this hotel, I'd still be happy with that, and the price was only about half that.... more
This was a fantastic place to stay! Cheaper than most places, Carlo made everyone feel very much at home and was always on hand to help. Very clean rooms and the rooms with terraces were definitely worth the extra 5 euros. I would recommend this as a place to stay and we will definitely be going back. more
A bit of a trek to get to but def worth while. You have to walk thru the main town to get to it, but you get to see what a wonderful place Positano is! It's clean & easy going. Carlos is a character (owner) & the cats are friendly (one took a liking to my boyfriend) but not all... more
What a gem! Great view. Ask for one of the rooms with a view of the ocean. We stayed in one of those and had a wonderful time. Good value for money in this expensive town. It did smell of catpiss in the corridor but the rooms were clean. I would definately recommend! more
We have just had 3 great nights at the Maria Luisa. I can't think of one negative comment. The room was clean and comfortable and the view fantastic. We paid an extra 5 euros for a private balcony and it was worth it. It was easy to find as we were given good directions by the owners. There were 2... more
I stayed there for 2 nights and didn't want to leave. We had a room with a private terrace which was wonderful. Carlo, the owner was very sweet and helpful which made the stay all the more enjoyable. The pensione is also a very close to the beach, just a 5 minute walk down some stairs. The name is painted... more
Although Positano is rather hard to get to, you will be rewarded for your dilligence. The pensione is located a short walk from the "Grotto Fornillo" Positano bus stop. We reserved a room with a balcony and was not disappointed.....beautiful! Our room had it's own bath and was restocked daily with towels. It was clean and well kept for it'... more
We stayed at Maria Luisa in Sept 2006 based on the great reviews on Tripadvisor. Pros: Carlo is very nice and accommodating View from balcony is fantastic Good location and value Cons; Almost non existent water pressure and hot water Disgusting smell in bathroom (room 5) Cats that make a very smelly mess in reception and everywhere else Bath towels... more
