We have spent one week during the last Xmas break at the Afamia Hotel in Damascus. The hotel was recommended to us by a friend of mine who went to Damascus last year. The hotel is very well located in the center, a walking distance from the fantatstic old town. The room is of a very good quality, big, clean,... more

I highly recommend this hotel for all who want to be in the center, very close to the old souk, to the main commercial street Al-Salhieh, to the most known Damascus antiquities. I spent a wonderful 10-days stay at this hotel, recommended by a friend of us, a Syrian guy. Went to Damascus with my family (8 persons) after a... more

stayed for 4 nights. overall the hotel was ok but could have been better. The breakfast containd only instant coffee, no bottled water, the milk was not warn enough to let the coffee melt, no fresh juice even though fresh fruits exist almost everywhere in Damas. We saw some raoches in our room. The owner could have invested a bit... more

We stayed for a week in October at the Afamia Hotel. We did not know what to expect at the price we paid £236 for the week for a double room but it was exellent, central location in the city centre within a easy walk of the old town. The hotel is clean and the staff very friendly and helpful... more

We can recommend the Afamia hotel as a fine 3-star hotel that is absolutely worth its price (we paid 50 euro/night for an executive room, breakfast included). Rooms are renovated; they are very clean with good beds and the best bathroom we had in Syria! Breakfast is excellent. The old city is a 15 minutes walk and the national museum... more

This was one of seven hotels stayed in on a trip through the middle east and for the money it was probably the best. It's location is very good, about equi-distant between the old city and the 4 Seasons (5 minutes from each). It's set off the main strip so quiet enough at night. The desk staff are pretty helpful,... more

We stayed at the Afamia for two nights, Sept.2,3 2008 while we were on our way back to the Damascus Airport to fly back home. We found the hotel was not really worth the price we paid for, i.e $ 66 per night since we had lived in a much better hotel in Hama for about $ 40 per night.... more

To Syrian hotel standards, Afamia is a good and clean hotel. It is located nicely nearby the Citadel, the souq, Omajjad Mosque and the old city centre (about 10-15 minutes) as well as the National Museum and the Hejaz train station (both 5 minutes). The bathroom floor was cleaned to such an extent that I almost slipped on it. Be... more

Having planned to go to Syria and Jordan on holiday, the next thing was to find a hotel for the first nights. After a few e-mails to several hotels, the Afamia told us they had a room available. So we booked there and applied for our visa. After landing in Syria at a horrible (about 03:00 in the morning, local... more

My husband and I have stayed at the Afamia twice and it felt like coming home the second time. The staff were very helpful and we had a lot of laughs. We found the location perfect, in a quiet spot behind the main post office (which has ADSL internet facilities) and within a short walk of old city and many... more
