Excellent location (right across the street from the Bay, no more than a few blocks from just about anywhere you'd want to get to in Old Town) and great value; very friendly and personal attention from the staff. (We were met by Conrad even though we arrived quite late. He gave us a number of personal recommendations of things to... more

Thanks very much for your story on Room 6 (conveyed separarely), I'll add it to our collection. I usually don't advertise the 'haunted' nature of the room as most people don't experience anything out of the ordinary. And thanks for asserting our 'eclectic difference', we definitely do not try to compete with the four-white-wall box motels. Happy Holidays!

My wife and I always thoroughly enjoy staying at the Pirate Haus. It is located in the heart of the Historic District of St Augustine which very convenient. You can walk almost everywhere. The Pirate Haus is literally steps away from St George Street a and Mantanzas Bay where sometimes you can see dolphins swimming. If you book a private room... more

First, let me clear up the impression that I always dress like the pictures in this review. I don't! It takes a half hour to get into and is a lot of wear and tear....There was once some dissatisfied guests who thought I'd be dressed like a Pirate, like and Orlando Dinner theatre or something! Anyway, I do living history...

I decided to go to St Augustine on the spur of the moment and wondered where I could find a room in the historic district on a summer weekend. To my delight, Pirate Haus had an opening. The price was reasonable and I loved the bright, cheerful colors. Conrad and staff made me feel welcome and offered tips on where... more

Sorry about the receipt, but it's our printing routine...At check-in we print out both the registration and the invoice on which we write the door code. The invoice has the breakdown of what you're paying for. At this point we haven't yet received payment so it isn't marked as 'Paid' but still shows amount due. If someone needs a receipt...

The pirate room was properly decorated it has a private bathroom and a fridge, it was in the heart of the Historical district and only 2 munities from the bay. Aye, thank ye for choosin' our Inn for your stay. We're working on the sugar ants, but getting them to walk the plank is not easy ;-) We don't want to over-nasty-chemicalize our rooms, so we use other things like air freshener which seems to repel them for a time, and we try to caulk up as many of the...

After visiting South Beach, me and my bofriend found this inn in the Lonely planet. We called and arrived the same day. We had no idea what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised! Allthough we arrived allmost at midnight, the inn keeper Conrad gave us a warm welcom and showed us the original room, all decorated in a under... more

Thanks for your kind review and thank you for your business. Sorry though that you didn't like the bed, the mattress is a Serta with Memory Foam Pillowtop. Most Americans prefer a softer mattress than Europeans. Hope to see you again, doeg!

While we enjoyed our stay at Pirate Haus Inn, we marked it a 3 for cleanliness. There were tiny ants throughout the room, and I awoke to a huge roach crawling on the headboard just above my head. Another thing to add is that I was unwilling to touch the alarm clock until I thoroughly cleaned it with Clorox wipes,... more

My apologies that your stay was not better. I don't think there is a lot we can do about the sugar ants. I've been trying different chemicals but it works for a day or two then they are back. What works best is to seal every crack where they can come in, but with a building built in 1915, that...

Where to start! The whole experience was great. Being a single mom I was a little reluctant to take my son to a hostel by my self on our last trip to St. Augustine. My ex was coming with us this time so I thought why not give it a try. I am glad we did. We all had a... more

Thanks for your very positive review. I've often thought about changing the name from Inn to Homestay because I feel it best represents what we're about. Ideally I'd like to have wine & cheese with all the guests, but I'd have to raise rates to do it. So instead we often have impromptu gatherings which can be loads of fun....

My husband and I have been visiting the Pirate Haus every year for the last four years. St. Augustine is our end-of-summer tradition trip and we would never stay anywhere else but the Pirate Haus. It was the first stop on our ten-day honeymoon Florida trip. Conrad even congratulated us with two ice-cold beers upon our arrival! We have brought... more

This is my second time staying at the Pirate Haus (my brother's third time) and we are never disappointed. This is the best value in St. Augustine. It is clean, everyone is nice, and it is right in the middle of the historic area so we could walk everywhere. We stayed in the pirate room which was bigger than rooms... more

Thank you for you positive review. With big chain hotels it's usually hard to keep on top of employees to maintain standards. The fewer rooms the easier it is to do, then again our building dates to 1915 so that makes it a bit of a struggle sometimes, as anyone who owns an older building will affirm. But compliments such...

Pirate Haus was a fantastic place to stay in St. Augustine! It's in a great location, a short walk from restaurants, shops, and the water. The roof deck is tons of fun, the rooms were immaculate and well air-conditioned during our June visit. Each room has a different pirate theme which adds extra fun to a weekend trip. We were... more
