We were dismayed when Hotwire informed us the hotel we were staying at was the Red Lion. We had read the reviews on TripAdvisor, and the hotel sounded horrible! We were in town because our son was to take the SAT early the next morning at a nearby school. He needed a good night's sleep and a good breakfast. We... more

This poor old motel is showing it's age, especially the exterior. Unlike some others who have complained about delays checking in, our room was ready. Unfortunately the teenage boy checking us in that afternoon was disinterested, bored and unwelcoming. I hope he enjoys his next job more than this one!! The morning desk staff was the opposite; very friendly and... more

We throughly regretted staying at this hotel, but arrived late in the day and didn't have other options. We stayed at a Red Lion the previous day in Salem, OR and it was a nice, comfortable place. But the Astoria Red Lion... well, Expedia describes this hotel as being "on the Astoria waterfront" and having "balconies overlooking the Columbia River."... more

First we arrive one hour before check in time, mention the name and some teenage boy has no idea how to do anything.... 5 mins later they're trying to decide which room to give us, NONE are clean yet, so they tell us to come back in an hour. 2 and a half hours later we return from lunch and... more

Our Situation: My girlfriend and I wanted to go the Oregon coast for a weekend but faced 3 limiting factors: 1) It was August and we were attempting to make reservations only a few days in advance 2) we were on a fairly tight budget and 3) we were bringing our little dog. Most hotels were booked full and the... more

My mother booked us rooms for $170 each per night at this hotel based upon her positive experiences with Red Lion Inns in the past. The Red Lion Astoria, however, completely undermines any positive connotations about this hotel chain in general. We were told the view of the marina and gorge is spectacular, but the sliding glass door in my... more

I needed a room in Astoria at 10 am on a busy weekend. I had stayed at another motel there, but they were full. I also had a cat so I also needed a pet room. When I went to check in they had a room available so I took it. That was the best part. The room itself was... more

I made reservations for our stay four months ago. We were to stay Thursday, June 19th on our way to the coast. We arrived at 3:50p and were told that they were "packed" the night before and that the cleaning crew had not had time to get to our room yet, and that it would be done in an hour.... more

We tried to book a B and B, but all the write ups said no kids under 12 and my daughter and I were traveling with my 11 year old grandson. We did not want a concrete generic place. The Red Lion Inn had big, nice rooms overlooking a marina on the Columbia River. Convenient location. We walked a lot.... more

Upon arrival we were told the room was not available yet (it was 2 hours past the check-in time) and when it "became available", we realized that it was right next to the service room (washer/dryer machine working all day, maids dragging their supplies back and forth, etc). If things could not get worse - we were "greeted" by an... more
